Semtech has announced the launch of the AirLink® RX400 and EX400, two new 5G RedCap routers purpose-built for industrial and commercial IoT applications where traditional 5G solutions are often over-specified, too costly, or too power-hungry.
5G RedCap, or Reduced Capability 5G, is designed to fill the gap between LTE and full 5G eMBB. It delivers the benefits of next-generation connectivity, including improved latency, long-term network evolution, and enhanced reliability, while avoiding the complexity and energy demands associated with high-bandwidth 5G deployments. This makes RedCap an increasingly attractive option for industries that need dependable wireless connectivity but do not require extreme throughput.
The AirLink RX400 is engineered for rugged industrial environments, while the EX400 offers a semi-rugged alternative for commercial and enterprise deployments.
